India dominated the West Indies in all three ODIs, but the T20I series is likely to be more competitive, considering that the shortest format is undoubtedly the one in which the West Indies excel. While the West Indies did enjoy a thrilling 3-2 win against England in their most recent T20I, it is worth noting that India is currently on a six-match winning run in the format.
The age-old adage that India is difficult to beat at home remains true, and the West Indies will need to be a lot more consistent firing unit if they are to leave India with something to show. India is missing key regulars, but there is enough depth in the team to make them a formidable opponent. Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Venkatesh Iyer have all had success in the role in the IPL. India threw a curveball in the One-Day Internationals, with Rishabh Pant stepping out in one game. So there are lots of possibilities. Kohli and Pant are both sure bets for the XI and are quite comfortable in the middle order, therefore Kishan may be the front-runner for the spot.
Meanwhile, the West Indies have an odd combination of new-age T20 big-hitters with accumulators like Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, and others, and they will have to use that mix well to maximize the full effect of their power-hitters.
