Pratika Rawal Finally Receives Her 2025 Women’s World Cup Winner’s Medal: India opener Pratika Rawal has finally received her 2025 Women’s World Cup winners’ medal, according to NDTV sources.

The 25-year-old was one of India’s top performers during the tournament, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer for the team. Unfortunately, she missed the last two matches, including the final, due to an ankle injury.

Even though Pratika was seen celebrating India’s victory over South Africa in the final, smiling and cheering from her wheelchair, she wasn’t wearing her medal at the time. As per ICC regulations, medals are only awarded to members of the 15-player squad.

Why Pratika Rawal Missed Out Initially

Before the semifinal against Australia, Pratika Rawal was replaced in the squad by Shafali Verma, who went on to play a starring role and even won the Player of the Match award in the final. Because of this change, Shafali received a medal while Pratika didn’t – something that left fans and teammates disappointed.

Jay Shah Steps In to Make Things Right

Thankfully, that situation has now been resolved. Pratika Rawal revealed that ICC chairman Jay Shah personally stepped in to make sure she got the recognition she deserved.

Jay Shah texted our manager that I want to make arrangements to get medal for Pratika,” Rawal told CNN News18.

Sharing her emotions after finally receiving the medal, she said, “So, finally, I now do have my own medal. The first time I opened it up (medal given to her by support staff) and, I looked towards it, I was almost in tears. I’m not a person who cries a lot but that emotion was real, that feeling of join us.”

A Star of India’s Historic Triumph

Pratika Rawal was one of the standout players for India before her injury. She hurt her right foot while fielding during the 21st over of Bangladesh’s innings, which ruled her out of the rest of the tournament, including the semifinal and final.

In just six innings, she scored 308 runs, including a century and a half-century, playing a huge part in India’s title-winning campaign. Her courage, consistency, and positive attitude made her one of the most admired names in India’s historic World Cup victory.
