Preity Zinta Talks About Shreyas Iyer’s Leadership

Zinta shared that Iyer is very humble off the field, unlike his intense on-field persona. She also mentioned that the PBKS management was eager to get him during the mega auction in Jeddah last year. She even admitted that Iyer is the player around whom the entire team has been built.

Shreyas is a very down-to-earth guy and an amazing captain. Very tactical and aggressive in his approach as a player, but the sweetest and the most soft-spoken guy. We are very happy that he is leading Punjab Kings & happier we could get him in the auction as he was our first & only choice for captaincy, therefore, the whole auction revolved around him for us as a team,” Zinta tweeted on Monday afternoon.

Virat Kohli and Preity Zinta’s Heartfelt Conversation

A user tweeted a picture of herself with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli during the recent match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, asking Preity Zinta about the conversation between the two.

“We were showing each other pictures of our children & talking about them! Time does fly… When I first met Virat 18 years ago, he was a spirited teenager buzzing with talent & fire – today he still has that fire & is an icon & a very sweet & doting father ❤️,” Zinta replied.

So far in IPL 2025, Punjab Kings have won five out of their nine games. Their most recent match, the ninth one against Kolkata Knight Riders, was washed out due to bad weather. PBKS chose to bat first and scored 201/4 in their 20 overs. However, only one over of the second innings was bowled before rain interrupted the game at Eden Gardens.

Shreyas Iyer has been in excellent form with the bat, scoring 288 runs in nine innings at an impressive strike rate of 182.27. He has hit more sixes (21) than fours (18) so far. As the tournament nears its crucial stages, a lot will depend on Iyer to lead Punjab Kings’ charge and help them secure a spot in the playoffs.
