PSG Vs Real Madrid Club World Cup Semi-Final Preview: Kick-Off, TV Info, Lineups And Mbappe Reunion

PSG vs Real Madrid: Club World Cup Semi-Final Preview: Kick-Off, TV Info, Lineups & Mbappe Subplot

We’ve got a blockbuster Club World Cup semi-final on our hands as Paris Saint-Germain take on Real Madrid in New Jersey. Two European heavyweights, a stadium packed with storylines, and one very familiar Frenchman ready to face his old flame.

PSG vs Real Madrid has all the ingredients of a classic: drama, flair, and more plot twists than a telenovela.

How They Got Here

Both sides brushed aside Bundesliga opposition to make it to the last four.

  • PSG left it late but got the job done against Bayern Munich. Goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele sealed the win, although the match was sadly overshadowed by a nasty injury to Jamal Musiala.
  • Real Madrid, meanwhile, looked like they were on cruise control against Borussia Dortmund, 2-0 up in 20 minutes, before giving their fans a mini heart attack late on. Business as usual under Xabi Alonso, though.

Oh, and did we mention Mbappe vs PSG? Yep, the man who left Paris for free is now in line to face them for the first time. Popcorn-worthy stuff.

Suspensions are the big story. William Pacho and Lucas Hernandez are both banned after their red cards vs Bayern. That leaves Luis Enrique scrambling for options at the back. Expect Lucas Beraldo to step in next to Marquinhos. Up front, Dembele might finally start after two energetic cameos (and a goal to boot). Barcola could be the one to drop to the bench.

New signing Dean Huijsen is suspended after a reckless red late on vs Dortmund. Eder Militao is back on the bench, but Real aren’t risking his knee just yet. So it’s likely another start for Raul Asencio alongside Rudiger at the back. The big call? Whether Mbappe starts. He’s yet to start in this tournament and Gonzalo Garcia has been lighting it up. Xabi’s got a real selection headache and it’s a good one.
