The PUBG Mobile 4.2 update officially launched on January 7, 2026, and it brings a lot of fresh content for players. From a brand-new themed mode to classic gameplay upgrades and major changes in side modes, this update feels packed and meaningful.

After updating the game, players also receive free rewards through in-game mail, including the Whisper music track, perk vouchers, BP, AG, and a special Forest City theme linked to version 4.2.

Note: PUBG Mobile is banned in India. Indian players should play BGMI, which is the legal Indian version.

1. Primewood Genesis Themed Mode

Primewood Genesis is the main highlight of the 4.2 update. It introduces a forest corruption theme that changes the look and gameplay of Erangel.

Five major locations are redesigned:

These areas now feature strange plants, new structures, and special loot zones. Players must destroy corrupted plants to unlock crates and rewards.

There is also a server-wide event where teams work together to clean the map. As progress increases, special items like a new scorpion-style vehicle and targeting vine equipment become available. This makes every match feel more alive and connected.

2. Classic Mode Gameplay Improvements

The classic mode received some of its most useful upgrades in this update.

The biggest addition is two-player climbing. Players can now boost teammates or pull them up to reach higher places. This makes fights more tactical and helps squads move smarter in cities.

Other small but helpful changes include:

  • Adjustable crosshair options for 4x scope
  • Better throwable controls
  • Improved prone movement
  • Weapon balance tweaks for fair fights

These changes improve comfort without changing the core battle royale feel.

3. New Ranked Season and Rewards

Update 4.2 also refreshes the ranked season system. The new season runs from January 11 to March 14, 2026, and offers updated rewards at every tier.

Players can earn:

  • New outfits at Platinum
  • Weapon skins at Diamond
  • Parachutes at Crown
  • Backpacks and badges at Ace
  • Helmets, poses, and special emotes at Ace Master and Ace Dominator

The reward design feels cleaner and more motivating, especially for players who grind ranked regularly.

4. World of Wonder Mode Upgrades

World of Wonder received creative-focused updates in version 4.2.

The biggest change is the AI Smart Assistant, which allows creators to:

  • Upload videos to create animations
  • Use text prompts to build scenery objects
  • Design smarter AI enemies

There are also new tools that let map makers control unlock systems and enemy skills. These updates make custom maps more advanced and closer to full game experiences.

5. Metro Royale New Season Content

Metro Royale starts a new season from January 8 to March 10, 2026.

This season introduces:

  • A new fabled melee weapon called Glacix Arbiter
  • Rare sellable items like Azure Heart and Military Drone
  • Vine Crates with valuable loot
  • A new plant-based boss enemy
  • More crate spawn points on Frontline Confrontation maps

These changes make Metro Royale more risky but also more rewarding for serious players.
