The PUBG Mobile 4.1 update has introduced a unique AI companion named Pownin, designed to assist players during matches in the new Frosty Funland-themed Erangel map. Pownin appears as a blue ninja penguin and can join your squad as an extra teammate in classic mode. This new feature aims to offer more support during fights and help players secure easier wins.
Where to Find Pownin in PUBG Mobile
Pownin appears at a Japanese Temple location on Erangel. The catch is that only one Pownin spawns per match, and the temple’s location changes every game. Because of this, the spot becomes a highly contested hot drop, with many squads racing to reach it first.
Once you reach the temple, you will have two options:
- Talk to Pownin: The AI penguin can understand English text chat and reply.
- Hire Pownin: You can recruit it as your teammate for the rest of the match.
How Pownin Helps in Combat
Pownin is not just a passive companion. It performs multiple useful actions during a match:
- Throws Shurikens: Pownin uses explosive Shurikens that deal chip damage and reveal enemy positions.
- Assists in Fights: If you’re late to finish an opponent, Pownin may secure the kill itself.
- Revives Teammates: If you get knocked, Pownin can revive you as long as you are within 20 meters.
- Recalls Eliminated Teammates: If a squadmate is fully eliminated, Pownin can bring them back.
- Post-Win Celebration: After a Chicken Dinner, Pownin performs a small victory dance.
Why Pownin Changes the Game
Pownin adds a new strategic layer to classic gameplay:
- Hot drop decision-making becomes riskier because everyone wants Pownin.
- Small fights can shift quickly due to Pownin’s tracking damage.
- Knocked players now have an extra chance to be saved.
- Teams with fewer players get a better survival advantage.
This AI teammate is expected to remain available throughout the duration of the 4.1 update on Erangel.
