India’s number one ranked shuttler PV Sindhu cruised into the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 event in Bali on Thursday with a smooth straight-game victory over Germany’s Yvonne Li.

At the USD 850,000 event, the reigning world champion, seeded third, barely broke a sweat in winning the second round match 21-12 21-18 against the world No.26 in 37 minutes.

For the first time, world No. 7 was pitted against Li. Sindhu appeared to be in complete command from the start.

The two-time Olympic medalist was so dominant that she dominated the first game, winning seven consecutive points at one point.

In the second game, Li made a strong comeback, and the game was more evenly matched. Sindhu, on the other hand, was adamant about not allowing the German to get an advantage over her.

Sindhu will face the winner of the second round match between Beatriz Corrales of Spain and Sim Yujin of South Korea in the quarterfinals.
