In a stunning display of skill and determination, multiple world champion Qin Haiyang asserted his supremacy in the men’s 50m breaststroke, securing the title at the 2023 Chinese National Swimming Championships.
Reflecting on his victory, Qin shared, “It (the win) is the result of days of hard work,” having completed the race in an impressive 26.25 seconds, as reported by Xinhua. This achievement follows a remarkable 2023 for Qin, where he made history by becoming the first swimmer to conquer all three breaststroke events at a single edition of the world championships in Fukuoka, Japan. Subsequently, he clinched five gold medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Acknowledging the intensity of his year, Qin admitted feeling a bit fatigued during the last event of the year. He disclosed ongoing challenges in his daily training, particularly regarding stamina, stating, “I am adjusting my techniques to reduce resistance in the water. I believe it will work, and more progress will be made.”
