Rachael Haynes: Injury scare for Australia’s opener, doubtful for 2nd ODI against India

The ongoing multi-format Commonwealth Bank Series between Australia and India has till now witnessed both the teams in injury woes as news of Australia’s Vice-Captain and opening batter Rachael Haynes was taken for scans after suffering a painful blow to the right elbow in nets.

Meanwhile, the series which consists of 3 ODIs, One-off D/N Test Match, and 3 T20Is also had India’s Harmanpreet Kaur miss the first One Day International due to a thumb injury.

Rachael Haynes “doubled over in pain, then removed her gloves and walked out of the nets and to the team changerooms to ice the injury, before leaving the ground a short time later,” according to cricket.com.au

The Australia team physio Kate Beerworth said to cricket.com.au, “Rach suffered a knock to her right elbow while batting today and has been taken to get scans.”

The inform batter Rachael Haynes recently in the first ODI against India on Tuesday, 21st September scored an unbeaten 93 to guide Australia to a 9 Wickets victory over the visitors in Mackay. She was joined by both Alyssa Healy and Captain Meg Lanning as all 3 of them scored a half-century and easily won the game for the Aussies.

The second ODI of the 3 Match Series is scheduled to take place on 24th September i.e., Tomorrow. Thus, Haynes’ involvement in the 2nd ODI at Mackay is doubtful. Australia is currently in lead 1-0 and has 25th straight ODI wins. Whereas, India Women Cricket Team will look to save the series.
