On Wednesday, 3rd November 2021 the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Ravi Shastri’s successor – Rahul Dravid, the former India captain as the Head Coach of the Senior Indian Men’s Team.
The announcement was released on BCCI Official Website, confirmed that – The Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Ms Sulakshana Naik and Mr RP Singh on Wednesday unanimously appointed Mr Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of Team India (Senior Men).
However, Rahul Dravid will begin his tenure as Team India’s Head Coach during the upcoming home series against New Zealand. India vs New Zealand series will start on 17th November just after the 2021 T20 World Cup. But it will comprise of 3 T20Is and 2 Test Matches.
Meanwhile, previously Rahul Dravid has been India A and Under-19 coach.
However, BCCI had invited applications for Team India’s Head Coach on 26th October, as Ravi Shastri’s term gets over after the ongoing 2021 T20 World Cup.
“It is an absolute honour to be appointed as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team and I am really looking forward to this role. Under Mr Shastri, the team has done very well, and I hope to work with the team to take this forward. Having worked closely with most of the boys either at NCA, U19 and India A setup, I know they have the passion and desire to improve every day. There are some marquee multi-team events in the next two years, and I look forward to working with the players and the support staff to achieve our potential,” Rahul Dravid said in a statement released by the BCCI.
