Delhi Capitals won the 32nd match of IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals in a super over at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday (April 16). Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, chose to bowl first, and Delhi Capitals scored 188/5 in their 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals’ Struggle for Playoff Spot
Rajasthan Royals also scored 188 runs in their 20 overs, tying the game. In the super over, Rajasthan could only score 11 runs, and Delhi chased it down in just four balls to win the match.
The win over Rajasthan Royals was Delhi Capitals’ fifth victory in six IPL matches this season. With 10 points, they are now at the top of the points table. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have lost five out of their seven matches so far and have dropped to the 8th position in the points table.

Losing to Delhi was a tough blow for Rajasthan Royals, the winners of the first IPL season, and now they risk missing out on a playoff spot. To have a chance of finishing in the top four and making it to the playoffs, RR must win at least six of their remaining seven matches.
RR’s Road to the Playoffs: Must-Win Matches
While teams have sometimes made the playoffs with 14 points in the past 17 seasons, reaching 14 points doesn’t always guarantee a top-four finish. Therefore, to be certain of qualifying, RR needs to win at least six matches.
Rajasthan Royals’ upcoming IPL 2025 matches are as follows:
- April 19: vs Lucknow Super Giants at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
- April 24: vs Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
- April 28: vs Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
