Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to an Achilles heel injury, which has faced a huge blow to RCB ahead of their match against KKR

Rajat Patidar, a star batter for Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team, was expelled from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday, dealing a severe blow to the team. The Virat Kohli-led team is preparing for their upcoming match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens after thrashing record-breaking winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL 2023 opener.

In a significant development ahead of the tantalising match between Bangalore and Kolkata, RCB has announced that star batter Patidar will be missing the entire season of the lucrative league. RCB has acknowledged Patidar’s departure from the IPL team, but the Bangalore-based team has not yet named a replacement for the injured batter.

“Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar’s Achilles Heel injury has forced him to withdraw from the 2023 IPL. Rajat has our best wishes for a quick recovery, and we’ll be there for him every step of the way. The management and coaches have decided against naming a Rajat replacement player just yet, according to a statement from RCB.

For the 16th season of the lucrative league, Royal Challengers Bangalore kept the IPL 2022 breakout star. In preparation for the upcoming season of the richest T20 league in the world, Patidar was receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to earlier reports, Patidar’s heel injury will prevent him from playing in the first half of the IPL 2023.

The RCB were forced to alter their batting lineup due to Patidar’s absence. In the opening innings for Bangalore against the Mumbai Indians, veteran batters Kohli and Du Plessis batted first and third, respectively. RCB defeated MI in their IPL 2023 opener at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium thanks to captain Du Plessis’ 73 off 43 balls and a match-winning 82* from former RCB skipper Kohli. In their upcoming IPL 2023 match, Bangalore will take on former champions Kolkata on Thursday.
