Ravindra Jadeja’s Light-Hearted Moment with Umpire Gaffaney: Ravindra Jadeja shared a funny moment with on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney during the fourth innings of the first Test.

Ravindra Jadeja’s funny celebration has gone viral

After finally getting the ball changed, Ravindra Jadeja celebrated by pumping his fists right in front of Gaffaney. The umpire smiled and gave Jadeja a friendly pat on the back.

India had been asking for a new ball for a while, but the umpires kept rejecting the requests. After the 27th over, the ball was checked using the ring gauge, and this time it failed the test. So, the umpires finally agreed to replace it. Following this, Ravindra Jadeja was seen celebrating it funnily. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet, watch it here:

Pant has been punished for breaking the ICC rules during the first Test of the five-match series against England. He got one demerit point for showing disagreement with on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney over a ball change.

Rishabh Pant Penalised for Dissent

This wasn’t the first time in the match that India had asked for a ball change. Vice-captain Rishabh Pant had also made a similar request, but the umpire turned it down. A frustrated Pant threw the ball away and later got a warning for breaking Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Well, for the unversed, on June 24, the ICC stated that Rishabh Pant had breached its Code of Conduct, specifically Article 2.8. For this, he was handed one demerit point. Interestingly, this is the first time Pant has been penalised in the last two years.

“Pant was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match,” a statement from the ICC said.

“In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Pant’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offense in 24 months,” the statement added.

Pant did not challenge the charges and accepted the punishment for showing dissent. The ICC confirmed that he admitted to the offence and agreed to the penalty suggested by match referee Richie Richardson from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel.

There was no disciplinary hearing as Pant admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees,” the statement added.

“The charges were brought in by the on-field umpires, Chris Gaffaney and Paul Reiffel, along with the third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and the fourth umpire, Mike Burns.”

“Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.”

Talking about the ongoing ENG vs IND first Test match, on the final day, England made a solid start. They were 21 for no loss in the first six overs and went into Lunch at 117 without losing a wicket in 30 overs. Ben Duckett looked in great touch, scoring an unbeaten 64 off 89 balls, while Zak Crawley gave him good support with 42 not out off 93 balls. The two openers will aim to reduce the lead at a steady scoring rate to keep England’s chances of winning alive.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah (0/21 in 9 overs) and Mohammed Siraj (0/23 in 8 overs) kept things tight and didn’t give away many runs. But Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur were a bit expensive and leaked more runs than India would have liked.
