Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reached an important milestone in the first ODI of the three-match series against England. He passed the legendary James Anderson to become the top wicket-taker in the ODI series between India and England.

Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bat first in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. Ben Duckett and Phil Salt provided a strong start, adding 75 runs in just 8.5 overs. Salt was especially aggressive, taking advantage of Rana’s bowling, hitting three sixes and two boundaries in an over that cost 26 runs.
Salt, who scored 43 runs off 26 balls, was run out by Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. Harshit Rana, making his debut, struck twice in the same over, dismissing Ben Duckett (32 off 29) and Harry Brook (duck off 3 balls). After this, Jos Buttler and Joe Root came together to stabilize the innings.
Ravindra Jadeja’s 3-Wicket Haul Helps India Restrict England to 248
Ravindra Jadeja took his first wicket by trapping Joe Root in front of the stumps. Root departed for 19 runs off 31 balls. Jadeja’s second wicket was Jacob Bethell, who scored 51 runs off 34 balls. The left-arm spinner also dismissed Adil Rashid, finishing with figures of 3/26 in 9 overs.
After dismissing Bethell, the 36-year-old all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, broke James Anderson’s record for the most wickets in 50-over matches between India and England. Jadeja now has 42 wickets in 27 matches at an average of 23.28 and an economy rate of 4.6, while Anderson had 40 wickets in 31 matches.
Before the first ODI against England, Jadeja had taken 39 wickets. Other notable bowlers on this list include Andrew Flintoff (37 wickets), Harbhajan Singh (36), and Javagal Srinath/Ravichandran Ashwin (35).
