RCB vs GG: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), continued their reign in WPL 2026 with an astonishing 61-run win against the Gujarat Giants (GG), thereby securing entry into the playoffs in style.
It is worth noting that after their victory, the RCB registered their fifth successive win in as many matches in WPL 2026, thus extending their record of remaining unbeaten in the league, which currently stands at six games in total and six from the last season as well.
RCB vs GG: A Statement Win Early in the Season
Just five matches into the series, RCB have already reached the feat that many teams aim to accomplish throughout the tournament — qualify for the playoffs. Starting their first match of the Vadodara leg, the table-toppers proved that the same ruthless consistency that defined their performance in the Navi Mumbai leg continues.
Although Gujarat Giants were coming into the match with the best PowerPlay strike rate in the entire WPL 2026 (10.08), they were faced with the gold standard in the art of bowling.
RCB Bowling Dominance Breaks GG Early
The RCB bowling lineup, as expected, made the difference for them. Sayali Satghare started by taking wickets, including Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine, in her first over. Lauren Bell then removed Kanika Ahuja, reducing GG to 5/3 in the third over.
Gujarat Giants could manage only 29/3 at the end of the PowerPlay when their lineup could not withstand the tightly knit bowling of RCB. Ash Gardner did her best to hold her end up with a exemplary knock of 54 off 43 balls but could not recover from the setback. GG could manage a total of 117/8.
RCB Batting: Gautami Naik Shines After Early Collapse
The clash between RCB vs GG wasn’t short of upsets for Bengaluru as well. RCB opted to bat but stumbled early and were reduced to 9/2 inside two overs. Both Grace Harris and Georgia Voll were cheaply dismissed, proving the Gardner decision to field first right.
The uncapped Indian batter Gautami Naik played an innings of remarkable maturity, anchoring RCB’s recovery with composure and confidence. By the end of the PowerPlay, RCB were 37/2, with Smriti Mandhana still settling in.
Mandhana was stitched up short by Ash Gardner, who trapped her LBW-the 10th time she has dismissed the RCB skipper across formats-leaving RCB in a precarious position..
Naik and Ghosh Power RCB to a Competitive Total
Naik then found a good partner in Richa Ghosh, and they launched a counterattack. The pair gathered momentum with a 13-run over against Georgia Wareham, shifting the focus back on the Gujarat Giants.
Naik scored her first WPL fifty off just 42 balls, and what followed was the best individual effort by an uncapped Indian player this year — a fabulous 73 off 55. The manner in which Naik chose to hit through the line, thereby penetrating the low-bounce black soil wickets, was impressive.
Ghosh smashed 27 off 20 balls, while Radha Yadav and Shreyanka Patil made late incisions. RCB leveraged the poor discipline of GG to amass an impressive 178/6 in the allotted 20 overs, given the fact that they had initially been scoring below a run a ball.
Final Five Overs Decide the RCB vs GG Contest
RCB exploded with 64 runs in the last five overs, but this surge itself went beyond the extent of victory. The six hit by Radha Yadav off Sophie Devine and the creativity shown in the last over by Shreyanka Patil made sure that this total is not threatened by Gujarat Giants.
