According to a report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid are on the verge of finalising the signing of A Carreras from Benfica, with the deal set to be completed after the Portuguese Cup final on May 25.
Real Madrid are on the verge of finalising the signing of Carreras
The Spanish full-back, who is a product of La Fabrica, will return to the club where his football journey began, and he is expected to sign a long-term six-year contract with Los Blancos.
One of the positions Real Madrid had the most doubts about throughout the season was the left-back. Despite Ferland Mendy’s excellent performance last season, the Frenchman hasn’t managed to keep his level. Suffering again with injuries, Fran García also hasn’t been able to take advantage of the opportunities he’s had.
Alvaro Carreras has completed 197 progressive passes this season
According to Opta, Carreras has completed 197 progressive passes this season, making him the 3rd highest player in the Primeira Liga to do this season.
This has led Real Madrid to focus on Álvaro Carreras as their reinforcement for the left wing. Having an excellent season with Benfica, Carreras has shown talent to be part of Real Madrid.
He is having an excellent season with Benfica
Despite the complications Madrid had to go through, like his contract until 2029, the signing is practically done. The patience Real Madrid has had to announce it is also a clear sign of respect toward Benfica’s season.
He came into the limelight after the high voltage clash against Barcelona in the Champions league, where he was all over the pitch and was almost able to nullify Lamine Yamal. He has been touted as a very aggressive full-back who likes to go forward but has been solid defensively as well.

Manchester United can also be involved in this deal as they have a €18 million buy-back clause
New reports have emerged that Manchester United can also be involved in this deal as they have a €18 million (roughly $19.5 million) buy-back clause, valid until December.
Madrid’s plan would be for the Red Devils to activate that clause, and then sell him on to Los Blancos for an estimated €30-35 million. This way, both United and Los Blancos could avoid dealing directly with Benfica, and all parties would come out ahead.
