Jammu and Kashmir won its first-ever Ranji Trophy title by drawing the game against Karnataka in the final of the tournament, courtesy of a healthy first innings. The win was set up by J&K’s batters, who posted a big total on the board in the first innings, and was followed by the bowlers, who kept on picking wickets at regular intervals to keep the Karnataka batters in check.

The team’s bowling was led by Auqib Nabi, who continued the good form that he had shown in the previous season and bowled a match-winning spell to help Jammu and Kashmir get over the line.
The Performance
Not only in this season, but Nabi has been breathing fire with the ball since the last couple of years, which is evident by thefact that he has picked a number of wickets during this time period
If we talk about Nabi’s performance in the recently concluded season, the fast bowler picked up 60 wickets, which happens to be the third most by a bowler in a single season of India’s premier domestic tournament.
The Reward
The pacer has received praises for his performances from all over India and has a good chance of earning his maiden international call-up for India in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June this year. If Nabi goes on to make his debut, he will become only thethirdcricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to play for the country after Parvez Rasool and Umran Malik

However, playing for India is one thing, but to prolong your international career is another, which Rasool and Umran Malik haven’t been able to do. While Umran has drifted away as far as international cricket, Rasool has retired.
The Challenge
Another thing to watch out for with respect to Auqib Nabi is how he handles pressure while playing in the IPL, as he has been picked by the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming edition, given the fact that he has become a household name and will be expected to deliver in every match that he plays from here on.
