At the current Commonwealth Games, the Indian women’s cricket team lost a heartbreaking match to Australia in Group A. Renuka Singh Thakur’s four wickets in just five overs gave India a great start in their attempt to restrict Australia to 154 runs, but Ashleigh Gardner held her own to help Australia reach the goal with three wickets remaining and one over to spare. Renuka Singh Thakur’s stint, from which she returned with figures of 4–18, will be remembered for the match.

Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Tahlia McGrath were just a few of the batswomen who Thakur removed, shattering the backbone of Australia’s batting order. And the throw to get Tahlia McGrath out was a real snorter. Renuka’s inswinger was a fantasy since McGrath was focused on playing the drive as the ball curved in dramatically from the outside.

Thus, there was significant space between the bat and the pad, which allowed the ball to rattle the stumps.

Regarding the encounter between India and Australia, the former batted first and scored 154/8 in 20 overs with the help of captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s 52-run performance and Shafali Verma’s 48 runs.

India was unable to defend the total, though, as Gardner and Grace Harris displayed composure on behalf of Australia.
