Even though India lost the match by five wickets, despite giving England a tough target of 371 runs, both Pant and Gill’s performances stood out. Pant became only the second wicketkeeper in Test history to score two hundreds in the same match.

Before the 27-year-old Rishabh Pant joined him, Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower remained the sole stumper with two centuries in the same Test match. Rishabh Pant struck 134 and 118 in the thrilling Leeds Test that England won by five wickets.

There was little change in the rankings for Test bowlers, with India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah maintaining his place at the top of charts following yet another five-wicket haul in the Headingley Test.

Other England players also saw gains. Ollie Pope climbed three spots to 19th, while Jamie Smith jumped eight places to 27th after strong performances.

Joe Root and Harry Brook Continue to Lead the Pack

Joe Root stayed at the top as the No.1 ranked Test batter, with teammate Harry Brook right behind him in second place. England captain Ben Stokes also improved his ranking. He moved up three spots to 5th among Test all-rounders, thanks to his all-round performance with both bat and ball in the same match.

The drawn first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh saw several players from both sides climb the ICC Test batters’ rankings.

Mushfiqur Rahim led the charge for Bangladesh after scoring 163 runs in Galle. He moved up 11 spots to reach 28th in the rankings. His teammate Najmul Hossain Shanto made an even bigger leap, jumping 21 places to 29th after scoring two centuries in the same match.
