Rishabh Pant Apologises After India’s 0-2 Loss to South Africa: India’s vice-captain Rishabh Pant has shared an emotional apology with fans after the team’s 0-2 Test series defeat to South Africa. The second Test in Guwahati was especially tough, with India losing by a massive 408 runs. Pant led the side in Shubman Gill’s absence, but the result brought plenty of criticism his way.

A Tough Series for Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant couldn’t find his rhythm with the bat throughout the series, scoring only 49 runs across four innings at an average of 12.25. The heavy loss in Guwahati became India’s biggest defeat in terms of runs, and both Pant’s leadership and performance came under scrutiny.

Taking to social media, the wicketkeeper-batter addressed fans directly, admitting that the team fell short over the past two weeks.

“There is no shying away from the fact that we didn’t play good enough cricket over the last two weeks. As a team and as individuals, we always want to perform at the highest level and bring smiles to billions of Indians.”

Rishabh Pant’s Emotional Message to Fans

Rishabh Pant went on to say that representing the country means everything to the players and promised that the team will bounce back stronger.

Sorry we couldn’t live up to expectations this time, but sport teaches you to learn, adapt and grow – both as a team and as individuals. Representing India is the greatest honour of our lives. We know what this team is capable of and we will work hard, regroup, refocus and reset to come back stronger and better as a team & individuals.”

“Thank you for your unwavering support and love! Jai Hind,” read the statement from Pant.

Looking Ahead

Rishabh Pant won’t have much time to dwell on the setback as he gears up for India’s three-match ODI series against South Africa. The first match will take place on Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi, giving him a fresh chance to find form and move forward.
