As the 36th and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Roger Binny, born in India on Jul 19, 1955, has served as the international Cricketer for his country. During 2019 and 2020, he presided over the Karnataka State Cricket Association. Former India all-rounder Roger Michael Humphrey Binny played in 27 Tests and 72 ODIs. The 1983 World Cup winning team included him as a crucial player. He played for India in their 1985 World Cup and Cricket World Championship-winning teams.
Roger’s bowling was the main reason he remained on the national team, despite his other strengths as an aggressive batsman and a good fielder. Before the infamous Indian spin quartet was brought into the attack, his ability to swing the new ball both ways were an added incentive. In his third Test match, played in what is now Mumbai, he caused havoc for Pakistan by taking out three of their top batsmen—Majid Khan, Zaheer Abbas, and Javed Miandad—in the first few overs of their innings. In the end, India triumphed by 131 runs.
