Rohit Sharma’s 3 Biggest Achievements in International Cricket

Rohit Sharma Sharma Birthday Special: Rohit Sharma aka “THE HITMAN” is one of the most successful batsmen in the Indian Cricket Team. He has made many big records and has performed well in every format of the game. He started his career as a middle-order batsman but later became one of India’s most trusted openers.

Apart from his batting, he has also brought big success as a captain. When Indian fans had lost hope of winning ICC trophies, Rohit Sharma helped the team make a strong comeback by winning two big ICC trophies within one year.

Here are Rohit Sharma’s 3 biggest achievements in international cricket:

1. Scoring 3 double centuries in ODIs

Rohit Sharma’s biggest batting record is hitting three double centuries in ODI cricket. Many great players could not score even one 200-run innings in their whole career, but Rohit did it three times.

  • He scored his first double century in 2013 against Australia (209 runs).

  • In 2014, he scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka, which is still the highest individual score in 50-over matches.

  • In 2017, he scored 208* against Sri Lanka again, making his third double century.

2. Winning T20 World Cup 2024 as captain

India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. But for more than 15 years, the team could not win it again. Even under Virat Kohli, India could not win the trophy.

Rohit Sharma changed that in 2024 when India won the T20 World Cup again. The team defeated South Africa in the final held in the West Indies, and India finally got an ICC trophy after many years.

3. Winning ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as captain

After the T20 World Cup win, Rohit Sharma also led India to win the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. India beat New Zealand in the final to win another big ICC trophy.

India did not lose any match in the tournament and won the final by four wickets. Rohit scored 76 runs in the final and was given the Player of the Match award. This was India’s third Champions Trophy win after 2002 and 2013.

These achievements make Rohit Sharma one of the top players in Indian cricket. He has done great work both as a batsman and as a captain.
