Rohit Sharma has clearly stated that he is not retiring from ODI cricket. The India captain wasn’t in the mood to entertain the rumors during a conversation with his teammate Virat Kohli, as they took pictures together celebrating their Champions Trophy win on Sunday night in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma Denies Retirement Rumors

A video is being widely shared on social media, where an unfiltered Rohit is apparently telling Virat Kohli that people are assuming they will retire from ODIs, but that’s not true.

Abhi ham koi retire nahi ho rahe. ******* inko toh lag raha hai (We aren’t retiring),” Rohit says in the clip leaving Kohli in splits.

Rohit and Kohli have now won the most ICC titles as Indian players, with each of them securing four titles.

Kohli was part of the Indian teams that won the 2011 ODI World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. On the other hand, Rohit won the 2007 World T20, the Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025, and the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli has also won the ICC U19 World Cup as captain.

Rohit top-scored for India with 76 off 83 balls, helping them chase down New Zealand’s target of 252 in the final. For his outstanding performance, the 37-year-old was awarded the Player of the Final.

Rohit Sharma Reflects on the Team’s Tournament Su

Speaking at the press conference, after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma said: “It is very nice. We played some really good cricket whole through the tournament, to come out here and having the result our way is a great feeling, very very happy with how we played this game.”

However, it’s not something that comes naturally to his game.

It (attacking game) is not natural to me but it is something I really wanted to do, when you are trying to do something different you need the backing of the team, you need the backing of the management and they were right through with me. In the ODI World Cup as well with Rahul bhai, this is what I spoke to him and he was very much okay with it, and now Gauti bhai as well. It’s all about getting the backing of the team and the management as well,” he said.
