India scripted history as both the men’s and women’s teams clinched world titles at the 7th Roll Ball World Cup 2025 in Dubai on Thursday. In a rare and emphatic achievement, both Indian sides defeated reigning champions Kenya in thrilling finals to secure a memorable Double Crown.
Women Deny Kenya Hat-Trick, Win Third Title
The Indian women’s team displayed immense composure and defensive discipline to edge past Kenya 3–2 in a closely contested final. Kenya were aiming for a hat-trick of world titles, but India held firm to deny them the feat.
This victory marked India’s third Women’s Roll Ball World Cup title, equalling Kenya’s record. India had earlier won the inaugural edition in 2013, reclaimed the title in 2017, and had finished third in the 2023 Pune edition. Standout performances from Suvidha Sareen and Prachi Pachauri played a key role in the triumph.
Men Stage Dramatic Comeback to Reclaim Crown
The men’s final delivered one of the most dramatic moments in Roll Ball World Cup history. India found themselves trailing 3–8 at halftime and later 4–8, seemingly on course for another defeat to Kenya, who had ended India’s dominance in 2023.
However, led by experienced campaigners Hiteshwar Singh and Harshal Ghuge, India mounted a stunning second-half comeback. The match was levelled at 10–10 in the dying moments before India struck the decisive goal to seal an 11–10 victory.
The win secured India’s fifth Men’s World Cup title, a record achievement. The men’s team had previously won four consecutive titles starting in 2013 before Kenya broke their streak in 2023.

Roll Ball is a fast-paced sport combining elements of basketball, handball, and roller skating. It was invented in India in 2003 by Pune-based physical education teacher Raju Dabade.
