In the 3rd installment of the Pakistan vs West Indies T20 series held at Lauderhill, the series finale ended with a convincing victory for Pakistan by 13 runs. Fakhar Zaman won the player of the match for his match-winning knock of 75 runs, and the series ended with a result of 2-1, where Pakistan came out as the winner.
During the last match of the series, a rare incident happened where first time a player retired from while batting with a full-member squad on both sides, and the 12th man to experience this in T20 format.

In the series decider, Pakistan vs West Indies match held at Lauderhill on Sunday. The West Indies were out chasing 190 runs, with a really good start given by Alick Athanaze, the WI squad could not finish on a good note. After Alick’s wicket, who scored 60 runs off 40 balls, the West Indies batting slowed down.
After the end of the 13th over, WI were at 110 runs with 3 wickets down. Only 80 runs were needed off 42 balls. Where the required run rate went up to 11.42, the team needed big hits to claim victory, but after a sudden wicket of Sherfane Rutherford at no.4, Roston Chase came to bat and struggled to score runs.
He scored 15 runs off 12 balls with 2 fours. He was called back when the team needed 41 runs in 18 balls. After that West Indies were able to score only 27 runs and ended the series 2-1, where unfortunately they were on the losing side.

Previous incidents of batsmen retiring
Ravinchandran Ashwin became the first player to retire in the IPL in 2022 while playing for the Rajasthan Royals, replaced by Riyan Parag in a match against Lucknow Super Giants to accelerate the run flow for a successful chase.
Sonam Tobgay (Bhutan, 2019) was retired out during the South Asian Games in an international T20 format match against the Maldives.
Sabbir Rahman, a player from Rajshahi Royals, was retired out due to tactical reasons during a match of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Other than this, Chase was also retired out in ILT20 earlier this year. He was playing for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in a match against MI Emirates. Chase failed to get big hits while batting at no. 6 and was eventually called out in the 18th over with scoring only 20 runs off 13 balls after coming in during the 12th over.
