Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Indian cricketer, commended Rinku Singh for his exceptional performance in the second T20I against Ireland, highlighting Singh’s ability to gauge the right moment for aggressive play while fulfilling the role of a finisher.

Following Gaikwad’s pivotal partnership of 71 runs with Sanju Samson, who scored a brisk 40 off 26 balls, Rinku Singh’s cameo injected the necessary momentum into India’s innings. The result was a convincing 33-run victory over Ireland, allowing India to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Rinku’s impressive 38 runs off 21 deliveries propelled India to a total of 185 for 5. This innings proved crucial as Ireland fell short by 33 runs in their chase. Notably, this outstanding performance earned Rinku Singh the player of the match award in only his second international appearance.

During the post-match presentation, India’s vice-captain highlighted Rinku Singh’s playing style as a learning opportunity for young cricketers.

“Rinku is already a favorite in the IPL. His batting in the IPL has showcased remarkable maturity. One of his standout qualities is his approach—he doesn’t attack right from the start. He takes his time, irrespective of the situation. He assesses the conditions and then takes on the bowlers,” Gaikwad stated.

“For upcoming players aspiring to be finishers, this is a valuable lesson. Taking some time is crucial, and you can catch up later. Rinku knows precisely when to accelerate. This innings was significant for him; it marked his first time batting in international cricket. I believe this experience will greatly benefit him,” he added.

Earlier in the IPL 2023 season, Rinku Singh had already established himself as a formidable player. Representing the Kolkata Knight Riders, he amassed an impressive total of 474 runs in 14 matches, maintaining an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53.
