SA vs AUS: New Faces and Rising Stars in the squad:
Among the new names, Prenelan Subrayen, who recently made his Test debut against Zimbabwe, has received his first call up to both the T20I and ODI squads. Lhuan-dré Pretorius has also earned his maiden ODI selection.
Exciting young talent Dewald Brevis has been included in both squads, joining Subrayen, Pretorius, Markram, Rickelton, Stubbs, Corbin Bosch, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, and Rabada. However, one surprising omission is experienced batter Reeza Hendricks.
Eyes on the World Cups
In an official statement, coach Shukri Conrad said he was happy to see senior players return to the fold. He emphasized that the Australia series would be an important step in building the right core group for both the upcoming T20 World Cup and the next ODI World Cup. He said:
“It’s great to have our senior players back in the mix after their rest following the WTC Final. Their experience and quality add real value to the group as we continue to build a strong core in both formats.
“Every series from here on plays a part in shaping our squads for next year’s T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup at home in 2027.
“Touring Australia is never easy. We know their conditions and intensity will test us in every department, and that’s exactly the kind of challenge we’re after.”
