SA vs AUS: On Thursday, July 24, South Africa revealed their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming white ball tour of Australia. Head coach Shukri Conrad announced that the Proteas are going in with full strength lineups for both formats.

The tour kicks off on Sunday, August 10, and includes six matches: three T20Is followed by three ODIs. The T20I series will be played on August 10, 12, and 16 in Darwin and Cairns. After that, the focus will shift to the ODIs, starting on August 19 in Cairns, with the remaining games scheduled for August 22 and 24 in Mackay.

SA vs AUS: Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma Return to Lead

Aiden Markram will captain the T20I side, while Temba Bavuma returns to lead the ODI squad. Both players, along with Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Kagiso Rabada, are back after missing the recent series and will be key figures in both formats.

SA vs AUS: New Faces and Rising Stars in the squad:

Among the new names, Prenelan Subrayen, who recently made his Test debut against Zimbabwe, has received his first call up to both the T20I and ODI squads. Lhuan-dré Pretorius has also earned his maiden ODI selection.

Exciting young talent Dewald Brevis has been included in both squads, joining Subrayen, Pretorius, Markram, Rickelton, Stubbs, Corbin Bosch, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, and Rabada. However, one surprising omission is experienced batter Reeza Hendricks.

Eyes on the World Cups

In an official statement, coach Shukri Conrad said he was happy to see senior players return to the fold. He emphasized that the Australia series would be an important step in building the right core group for both the upcoming T20 World Cup and the next ODI World Cup. He said:

“It’s great to have our senior players back in the mix after their rest following the WTC Final. Their experience and quality add real value to the group as we continue to build a strong core in both formats.

“Every series from here on plays a part in shaping our squads for next year’s T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup at home in 2027.

“Touring Australia is never easy. We know their conditions and intensity will test us in every department, and that’s exactly the kind of challenge we’re after.”
