SA vs ENG: The England cricket team is all set to play three T20I series and three match ODI series before a single four-day Test match on their upcoming tour of South Africa. The tour is scheduled to begin from November 24 and will go on till December 18th. Ahead of the much-awaited tour, the England and Wales Cricket Board has announced the squads for the upcoming series, weeks after the country’s group-stage exit at the Women’s T20 World Cup.

SA vs ENG Squad Announcements: Key Players and Surprising Changes

Alice Capsey has been dropped from England’s T20 and Test squads for the multi-format tour of South Africa, but she has managed to retain her place in the ODI squad. It has to be noted that she hasn’t scored more than 25 in any of her last five T20Is and was also run out for a single in England’s dismissal six-wicket loss to West Indies on October 15 that knocked them out of the World Cup.

Paige Scholfield, who played her first senior international match in Ireland this September, has been chosen to replace Capsey in the T20 team.

Fast bowler Lauren Filer is part of all three teams, but all-rounder Danielle Gibson will miss the tour due to a recent knee operation after an injury in the West Indies match.

Freya Kemp and batter Maia Bouchier have a chance to play their first Test matches.

Heather Knight remains the captain of all three teams.

Players not currently playing in the early weeks of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia, where Capsey is playing for Melbourne Renegades (although she’s had mixed results in batting), have been training in Loughborough.

Meanwhile, the T20 squad will fly to South Africa on November 16, eight days before their first match. The ODI and Test squads will follow, leaving on November 27.

A four-day match in Bloemfontein will mark the first Women’s Test held in South Africa since 2002.
