South Africa has made four changes to their playing XI, while UAE have also brought in couple of players
South Africa and UAE will go head-to-head in the 34th match of the Men’s T20 World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both teams will look to finish the group stages on a high, even though this particular match won’t have any bearing on their fortunes in the competition, with South Africa having qualified for the Super Eight, whereas the UAE have been eliminated and will play for pride.
If we talk about the form of the two teams coming into this game, South Africa registered a thumping win over New Zealand in their last encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, while their opponent UAE, lost a close game against Afghanistan at this venue.
Captain’s Corner
Aiden Markram, the South African captain, won the toss and decided to field first. Markram was of the opinion that with a bit of rain around and also the moisture at this time of the day, they are expecting the wicket to be a bit tacky, which the South African pacers and the spinners should make full use of with the ball stopping a bit. On being asked if making four changes to the playing XI might hamper the momentum that the team has on its side at this stage of the tournament, Markram said that they want to give game time to players.
Muhammad Waseem, the captain of the UAE, said that they would have bowled first as well had they won the toss with a bit of moisture in the surface. Having said that, Waseem was also of the opinion that they are happy to bat first and will look to put runs on the board and back the bowlers to defend it. The UAE captain said that it is important to negotiate the first few overs and accelerate in the middle and final five overs.
