India have announced their squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa. There are fresh faces and some notable omissions in the team composition. The SA W vs IND W series, which will take place in April, may witness some thrilling debuts and tactical selections as India continues to tweak its team combination.
Kashvee Gautam Set For Potential T20I Debut
Kashvee Gautam, a seam-bowling allrounder, has been included in India’s squad for her maiden T20I call-up. She is likely to make her debut during the South Africa tour. She has already represented India in one Test and six ODIs, most recently during the tour of Australia. She has not yet made her debut in the shortest format.
Key Omissions from India’s Squad
Amanjot Kaur is out, and this comes after a tough outing in Australia, where she had a hard time with both bat and ball. G Kamalini, who made her debut against Sri Lanka, is out, and this is due to a lack of game time.
Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma is also out, and this comes despite her taking part in the series against Sri Lanka. It is clear that there is a change in strategy, and this is ahead of the SA W vs IND W match.
Uma Chetry Added as Backup Wicketkeeper
A Chetry has been selected in the team as a backup wicketkeeper for the first-choice keeper Richa Ghosh.
Bowling Attack: Balanced Pace and Spin Options
