Sachin Tendulkar: Highest Ducks Scorer from India

Despite being known as the ‘master blaster’, like every player, Sachin Tendulkar also had to see some bad days. There were many occasions when he had to go to the pavilion without scoring even a single run. Born on April 24, 1973, Sachin made his debut in cricket at the age of 16 years against Pakistan. Apart from being one of the leading run scorers, the little master is also at the top of the chart when it comes to most ducks by an Indian cricketer.

Career at a Glance

Sachin Tendulkar started his journey on December 18, 1989, with his ODI debut match against Pakistan. He has scored fastest 15,000 runs and most nineties in his career. In December 1989 India went on a tour of Pakistan for a three-match series. Surprisingly, the master blaster got out on a duck in his debut match. While playing 2 ODI, at Gujranwala, Sachin got out on the bowl of Waqar Younis. 

ODI Matches with No Runs

  • While playing cricket for more than two decades, 20 times Sachin has been dismissed on “0” runs.
  •  Pakistan succeeded 5 times, New Zealand 4 times, Lankans thrice, Windies four times and Australia twice in making Sachin go back to pavilion without scoring a single run.
  • Sachin has a total of 15,921 runs in 200 test matches. He is the only player to play 6 World cups at a go from 1992 till 2011. Also there have been 14 occasions in test cricket when Sachin couldn’t score even a single run on the ground.

Test Matches with No Runs

  • On February 2, 1990, while playing against New Zealand, Sachin faced his first duck in test career. Since then, has 15 ducks in the test career. 
  • Last when he was playing against South Africa on 26 March 2008. He was caught in the bowl of Ntini. 

T20 Matches with No Runs

  • Despite having a long cricket career, Sachin played just a single T-20 match, scoring 10 runs.
  • Being a ‘Mumbaikar ‘, Sachin has always played matches for Mumbai Indians during IPL. He played 78 matches for Mumbai Indians scoring 2334 runs. 

For 21 long years, Sachin had served Indian cricket. Sachin tops the record for having most matches and runs in a Test career. Ironically, he also has a record of scoring a century and a duck in the same test match, which was played against Pakistan in Chennai,1999.
