On the second day of the current Ranji Trophy 2022, Bihar’s Sakibul Gani made history by being the first hitter in First-Class cricket to record a triple tonne on debut, smashing 341 against Mizoram at the Jadavpur University Campus stadium at Salt Lake in Kolkata.

Sakibul Gani, 22, not only got a century, but also converted it into a triple century, the first time a batter has scored over 300 in the present Ranji Trophy 2022. Sakibul Gani has become the first player to score a triple tonne in a first-class match, requiring 387 deliveries and 50 boundaries to achieve this achievement. Gani became the first batter in Indian and world cricket history to make a triple century on his FC and Ranji debut on February 18, 2022. In the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy season, he broke the record set by Madhya Pradesh’s Ajay Rohera, who bowled an unbeaten 267 on FC debut against Hyderabad.

Despite Yashasvi Rishav’s 38 runs and Lakhan Raja’s 25 runs, the team fell to 71/3. But, in a record stand, Gani and Kumar grabbed control of the innings and defied the Mizoram bowlers. At the time of writing, Babul Kumar had amassed a total of 227 runs. Meanwhile, Gani was dismissed for 341 runs in 405 balls, with 56 fours and two sixes.
