Sanju Samson underwent surgery on Tuesday and it will take him a week to recover. Samson was injured in the fifth and final T20 International match against England. Jofra Archer’s ball hit his hand. Due to injury, Sanju Samson could not participate in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final match. Samson had to represent Kerala against Jammu and Kashmir. This match was played in Pune on 8 February.
Apart from this, Sanju Samson’s performance in the T20 International series against England was also not good. He scored a total of 51 runs in five matches at an average of just 10.20 while his strike rate was 118.60.
The Frustration of Samson
Sanju Samson last played an ODI against South Africa in 2023, where he scored a century. After this, India played only three ODIs in 2024. Samson was dropped from Kerala’s ODI squad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he did not attend the preparatory camp before the tournament.
However, Sanju Samson can now be seen in cricket action in the upcoming IPL. Rajasthan Royals reached the playoffs last year under the captaincy of Samson. Rajasthan Royals had to face defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier of IPL 2024.
