IPL 2025 Watch: Sanju Samson Salutes 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi After Blazing Half-Century

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson gave a heartfelt salute to 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi during the 62nd match of IPL 2025.
Sanju Samson Salutes Young Star After Stunning Knock
Samson made the gesture after the young batter reached his fifty against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, May 20, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Opening the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played more carefully than usual and did not go for big shots right away.
He and Jaiswal added 37 runs for the first wicket, but Suryavanshi scored just 1 run from 3 balls in that stand. After Jaiswal got out, Suryavanshi continued with his steady approach but made sure to hit the bad balls for runs.
He then built an important 98-run partnership with captain Sanju Samson, which put Chennai Super Kings under pressure. During this stand, Suryavanshi reached his fifty in style by hitting a six.
On the fifth ball of the 12th over, Noor Ahmad bowled a no-ball, giving Suryavanshi a free hit. He took full advantage, pulling the next ball over the boundary for six and completing his half-century in just 27 balls.
Suryavanshi celebrated by saluting the dugout, and Sanju Samson, impressed by the youngster’s performance, returned the salute from the middle.

Riyan Parag Reflects on Missed Chances and Personal Form
Speaking before the match in a video shared on the IPL website, Rajasthan Royals player Riyan Parag said the team lost some close games, which really hurt their chances, and he also shared his disappointment about his own batting.
Riyan Parag said:
“There were 4 or 5 close games. If they went in our favour, we’d be in a very different position now but that’s how the IPL is. We’ve made errors and we’ve paid the price. [On his own runs] I got a lot of starts, I failed to convert most of them. If I did convert at least 50% of the starts, I think I could have put my team in a different position. I like being very hard on myself. Today if I get the opportunity, I will try to finish it.”
He also mentioned that the team is already thinking about how to improve for next season.
“We have not openly spoken about it but it’s always at the back of our minds that what can we do differently, what are the changes that we can make and come again next year with a fresh mindset as a better team but we are focused at today’s game.
“The reschedule helped us a little bit as batters but we got to be clinical on this smaller ground. Last year we fell short while chasing. The conditions are little bit in our favour [Message for the fans] We’ve tried to put on a show. Chennai has done the same. We have just not been able to convert successes. We have already seen a lot of fans come in. We will put up a good show.”
