Shaheen Afridi Joins Pakistan’s Unwanted Bowling Record In New Zealand T20I: New Zealand won again in the second T20I of their 5-match series against Pakistan, beating them by 6 wickets in a rain-affected match. Pakistan batted first and scored 135/9 in 15 overs. New Zealand easily chased down the target. Just like in the first T20I, Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to perform against the strong New Zealand batting, and even their star bowler, Shaheen Afridi, was hit hard by the Kiwis.
Pakistan’s Struggles Continue as Shaheen Afridi Concedes Record Sixes
Shaheen Afridi gave away 31 runs in three overs against New Zealand, with 24 of those runs coming in just one over. New Zealand’s wicketkeeper-batter, Tim Seifert, took full advantage, hitting Shaheen for 4 sixes, including a massive 119-meter six at the University Oval in Dunedin.

Meanwhile, with this, Shaheen Afridi joined Pakistan’s unwanted bowling record in New Zealand T20I.
The most sixes conceded by a Pakistan bowler in an over in T20Is are as follows:
- 4 sixes – Faheem Ashraf (vs SA), Lahore 2021
- 4 sixes – Mohammad Sami (vs AUS), Saint Lucia 2010
- 4 sixes – Shaheen Afridi (vs NZ), Dunedin 2025
Compared to their performance in the first T20I, Pakistan played much better in the second match. Pakistan’s captain, Salman Agha, acknowledged this improvement during the post-match presentation.
With the series now at 0-2, Pakistan cannot afford to lose another match. The captain has urged his top-order to perform better during the powerplay if they want to start winning again.
“It was freezing. It was a good game compared to the last game. We batted batter. Fielding was outstanding. Bowling in patches was good. The bounce we need to understand is different. After powerplay, we bowled well. Haris bowled well. We need to be better in the powerplay. As a batting unit, we need to have better powerplay. And same as a bowling unit as well,” he said.
