The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are facing a challenge ahead of their match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday as their skipper, Shikhar Dhawan, is injured. The team needs all their players to be at their best to win against RCB, who have been struggling despite their strong lineup. In the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants, England all-rounder Sam Curran captained the side in Dhawan’s absence, and the team managed to secure a two-wicket victory with some unexpected standout performances.

RCB poses a more significant threat to PBKS than LSG, and Curran will have to step up with his batting skills if they want to win against Faf du Plessis’ side and secure two points at home. Curran’s recent form with the bat has not been consistent, and his poor performance in the previous match against LSG raised concerns. With Dhawan’s injury casting doubts on his availability, PBKS’s top order heavily relies on his opening partner, Prabhsimran Singh, to play a responsible knock and build a strong innings.

PBKS’s bowling unit, led by two left-armers, Arshdeep Singh and Curran, has performed well this season, with South African Kagiso Rabada adding to their potency. However, the team’s batting has been their Achilles’ heel, and Dhawan has often been their savior. On the other hand, RCB’s team batting is deep and formidable, but they have struggled with their top order’s inconsistency. Despite having a strong bowling lineup, their losses have left them at the bottom of the IPL table, with only four points from five matches.

RCB has the potential to turn their campaign around with a few morale-boosting victories, and the match against PBKS presents them with an opportunity to do so. With quicks such as Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Wayne Parnell, RCB’s bowling might not be as strong as PBKS’s, but they are committed and determined. The IPL is a fast-paced tournament, and fortunes can change dramatically, so both teams will be eager to secure a victory and improve their standings on the table.
