Dhaka Capitals have signed the great Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar as their mentor for the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. The franchise confirmed the development on Thursday, which is a major acquisition ahead of the new season.
Dhaka Capitals Bring in Shoaib Akhtar for Experience and Motivation
Franchise officials said Shoaib Akhtar widely known as the Rawalpindi Express would be a mentoring figure for the team. Akhtar has already done advisory work in numerous T20 leagues around the world and is famous for the fastest recorded delivery in international cricket.
Dhaka Capitals CEO Atik Fahad explained the motive behind bringing him on board:
“We chose him for his brand value and his ability to inspire the players.”
A week before the season begins, Akhtar will join the team for endorsements. He will then come back during the tournament for matches, both to watch and to provide insight with strategy, in a role similar to what Saeed Ajmal did last year.
Akhtar has had an illustrious international career: 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is, with a combined haul of 444 wickets at the age of 50 years. His involvement is expected to motivate and elevate the next generation of fast bowlers in the Dhaka Capitals setup.

Also, BPL Governing Council announced the new date for BPL Players’ Auction 2026, along with Shoaib Akhtar’s signing.
