2 Min Read

The Shooting League of India (SLI) will make its debut from February 16 to 26, 2026, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). The league’s dates have been aligned with the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) 2026 calendar to avoid conflicts with major global competitions.

Originally scheduled for March 2025, the franchise-based league was postponed multiple times before settling on the new February window. Approved by the ISSF in 2024, the Shooting League of India is India’s first franchise-based shooting competition and is expected to attract top domestic and international talent.

The league will feature mixed-team events across multiple disciplines:

  • Pistol: 10m and 25m
  • Rifle: 10m and 50m 3-positions
  • Shotgun: Trap and Skeet

Teams will be divided into two pools for the league stage, followed by knockout rounds.

Shooters will be drafted across four tiers- Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth- ensuring a balanced mix of world-class athletes, top Indian shooters, and emerging talents.

Speaking about the inaugural edition, NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said, “The SLI is a milestone for our sport- franchise-built, athlete-first, and aligned to the global calendar to maximise participation. With mixed-team formats, compelling storylines, and a premium broadcast, we’re set to deliver a world-class opening season that welcomes international stars and inspires India’s next generation.”

With its innovative format, global participation and a focus on nurturing young talent, the Shooting League of India promises to redefine the sport in India and create a new platform for aspiring shooters to shine on a global stage.
