Short Track World Tour: Netherlands Sweeps On Home Ice In Tilburg

ISU Short Track World Tour event concluded in Tilburg with the Netherlands sweeping every relay event.

The Dutch relay teams were invincible on home ice, registering formidable wins in the mixed relay, men’s relay, and women’s relay.

The star-studded Dutch team in the mixed relay was a bonanza for the crowd as they cheered for their heroes on the home turf . Italy held off the United States for second.

The men’s relay home favorite Jens van ’t Wout caps off a near-perfect weekend, making a brave move on Steven Dubois on the final corner with the Canadian sliding out. Belgium and Italy followed closely behind, rounding off the podium.

Canadian women clinch 1500m and 500m gold at Short Track World Tour

While the men’s 1000m and relays did not go the Canada way, women athletes took the charge.

Courtney Sarault clinched the gold in 1500m women’s event, finding her journey back to the podium.

Sarault was competing in a final featuring the top four in the Crystal Globe rankings. Belgium’s Hanne Desmet lost out due to a penalty, which paved the way for the Canadian’s victory. Italy’s Pietro Confortola claimed second place, with Corinne Stoddard of the U.S., completing the podium.

In the 500m, Canadian Florence Brunelle clinched gold after impressing from start to finish. Michelle Velzeboer took second spot ahead of USA’s Kristen Santos-Griswold.
