Indian batsman, Shreyas Iyer, has been ruled out of the remaining series of the India vs England One Day International series due to his shoulder injury he caught while fielding. The questions are arising about his participation in the upcoming IPL season.
Iyer was taken off the field after he got injured at his left shoulder while fielding in the first ODI series in Pune on Tuesday. The incident took place during the fourth over of the second innings, where Iyer dived on a drive hit by Jonny Bairstow off pacer Shardul Thakur.
While this is known that the 26-year-old batsman will miss the second and third matches of the ODI series, reports say that it is likely that he will miss the first half of the IPL as well.
“It is unlikely he will play the first part of IPL,” a BCCI spokesperson told PTI.
According to some reports, Iyer’s scan report has indicated a labrum tear in his left shoulder, and the extent of the injury is unclear yet.
