Shubman Gill’s impressive innings in the match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad ended with an unlucky run-out.

Leading from the front, the Gujarat Titans captain looked set for another IPL century. Batting first, GT got off to a strong start with Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

Gill showed his intent early, smashing Mohammed Shami for a six in the first over. In the fourth over, he took on SRH skipper Pat Cummins, hitting him for two fours and a six as GT reached 50 runs in just 4 overs.

By the end of the powerplay, Gujarat Titans were cruising at 82 without losing a wicket. The opening stand finally broke in the 7th over when Zeeshan Ansari got Sai Sudharsan out for 48. Shubman Gill, however, kept going and reached his half-century in just 25 balls.

Shubman Gill was in top form, dominating the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers and looking all set for a well-earned century. But his innings ended unexpectedly due to a run-out.

On the last ball of the 13th over from Zeeshan Ansari, Jos Buttler played the ball to short fine leg. Both batters went for a quick single, but Harshal Patel collected the ball quickly and threw it to the striker’s end. Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen deflected the ball onto the stumps.

Replays showed Shubman Gill was short of his crease when the bails came off. However, there was a bit of confusion since Klaasen’s glove was close to the stumps. The third umpire reviewed it and eventually gave Gill out, ruling in favour of SRH.

Gill was out for 76 off 38 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes. At the time, Gujarat Titans were 162/2 after 15 overs.

Shubman Gill was clearly upset with the decision. After being given out on the big screen at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he looked furious. As he walked off, he headed straight to the fourth umpire and demanded an explanation.
