The three-match ODI series between India and Zimbabwe wrapped up with a scintillating final match. The third ODI brought players from both sides an opportunity to shine like never before. With a century from each team’s players, the match turned into an actual clash towards the culmination of the second innings.

The first innings highlight was the star youngster Shubman Gill getting to his maiden century. The right-handed batter has shown sheer brilliance within the 9 ODI innings he has played. With a total of 499 runs scored at an average of 71.29 with a strike rate of 105.27, he has registered many records in the books. Most of which are about a youngster ravishing like never before in the internationals for India.

Shubman Gill has now earned his second consecutive Player of the series award as the series wrapped in Harare. Gill scored a total of 245 runs in the series within just three innings with the top score being today’s 130. The batter claimed the title in the last overseas tour of India to the West Indies. But this appeared way special as it came with Gill scoring his maiden century. Moreover, with this century, he has now become only the second Indian player to score one in 2022 after Rishabh Pant.

Fans are showering praises on the youngster as he appears promising for the Indian cricket future. Moreover, with his consistently impactful ODI performances, Gill is signaling the BCCI to consider him in the scheme of things ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

KL Rahul, who acquired his maiden series win as a captain for India praised Shubman Gill for his unmatched performance. “He’s been batting well since the IPL,” KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation. “Very pleasing to the eye. Not seen him over-confident. That requires composure, to show that kind of temperament is good.”
