Silesia Diamond League 2025: Top Rivalries To Watch

4 Min Read

The Silesia Diamond League will take place on August 16 (Saturday) in which world’s best track and field athletes will converge in Poland in a show of strength and stamina.

This will be the 12th stop of Diamond League this season and athletes will look  to grab crucial points for the Diamond League Finals in Zürich, on the 27th and 28th August 2025.

Here are the top rivalries to watch out for at Silesia Diamond League 2025:

Silesia Diamond League 2025: Top Rivalries To Watch

Men’s 100m: U.S. vs Jamaica

Expect fireworks between Fred Kerley (USA) and a strong Jamaican contingent- Kishane Thompson, Ackeem Blake, and Yohan Blake. Kerley, the reigning world champion, will aim to bounce back after an uncharacteristic fourth-place at the U.S. champs, while Thompson and others aim to stake their claim on the world stage.

Women’s 100m: Jackson vs Richardson

This rematch between Shericka Jackson (JAM) and Sha’Carri Richardson (USA) has headline appeal. Jackson holds a slight lead (3–2) in their head-to-head duels, but Richardson has been flawless this season and remains the only undefeated sprinter thus far.

Men’s 110m hurdles: Holloway vs Broadbell

Grant Holloway (USA) versus Rasheed Broadbell (JAM) is the marquee hurdles matchup at Silesia Diamond League 2025. Broadbell edged out Holloway by .04 seconds in Lausanne and maintained a narrow 4–3 lead over the American. Holloway rarely loses- but when he does, it’s often to Broadbell.

Women’s 100m hurdles: Loaded U.S.–World Field

A staggering lineup: Tobi Amusan, Masai Russell, Nia Ali, Keni Harrison, Ackera Nugent, Danielle Williams, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Megan Tapper, Alaysha Johnson, and Cyrena Samba-Mayela. The depth means fierce competition just to make the final- especially within the U.S. contingent.

Middle Distance Appeal: Ingebrigtsen & the 1500m/Steeple Chase

Jakob Ingebrigtsen returns inspired after shattering the 3000m world record here last year and is targeting aggressive times in the 1500m again.

Meanwhile, if Soufiane El Bakkali is on the start sheet for the steeplechase, he’ll chase a rematch of his recent clash with Lamecha Girma (though Girma isn’t mentioned for this week).

Field Events: Powerhouse Throwers

Ryan Crouser, Joe Kovacs, Leonardo Fabbri, and Tom Walsh create a formidable shot put “power cluster.” Crouser enters as the favorite but Kovacs and Fabbri are legitimate threats at Silesia Diamond League 2025.

Pole Vault: Duplantis & Friends vs the Heights

Mondo Duplantis will aim to raise the bar again-literally. He already holds the world record (6.26 m at Chorzów) and is quietly aiming to hit 6.30 m this season.
Expect tight competition from seasoned rivals such as Tamberi and Barshim, both contenders to challenge Duplantis’s supremacy.

Women’s 400m: National vs International Clash

Natalia Kaczmarek (POL), the European champ, will face strong rivals-Marileidy Paulino (DOM) and Salwa Eid Naser (BHR)-in front of her home crowd. This race promises intense drama as seven out of eight Paris Olympic finalists line up in a deep field.
