The first test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy has culminated in a draw. The high run contest was on its fifth day when rain washed out the match and ended the contest.

The Sri Lankan side led by Dimuth Karunaratne had declared itself at a score of 648 at the loss of eight wickets. The opposing Bangladeshi side led by Mominul Haque responded by scoring 100 runs until tea time on the fifth day. The match certainly seemed like heading for a draw.
