Sri Lanka will be up against Oman in their second match of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Both teams have had a contrasting start to the competition, with Sri Lanka winning their first match against Ireland while Oman lost their tournament opener against Zimbabwe by a big margin and would want to put ona much improved performance against Sri Lanka.

As mentioned above, Sri Lanka have delt a major blow after the win against Ireland as experienced all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who picked up an injury in that particular game being ruled out of the rest of the tournament.

Dushan Hemantha, who has replaced Hasaranga in the Sri Lankan squad, has been picked in the playing XI as a like-for-like player in the upcoming match against Oman.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka, on the other hand, said that it looks like a decent wicket but was quick to say that he expects it to play a lot better than it did in the previous match. Shanaka also admitted that it is unfortunate that Hasaranga has been ruled out of the tournament.

The batters will have to give themselves some time to get used to the pace of the wicket and play their shots once they get their eye in.

Sri Lanka, who are batting first, should look to score 170-180 runs and rely on their bowlers to get the team off to a good start by picking early wickets in the second innings.
