A Dream Proposal for Smriti Mandhana After Her Biggest Cricketing Moment: Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana received the most unforgettable surprise of her life when her longtime partner got down on one knee with a ring, right at the venue where she had just achieved the biggest milestone of her career.

Smriti has long been celebrated as one of India’s finest cricketers. As vice-captain under Harmanpreet Kaur, she played a major role in the team’s success and piled up an impressive 434 runs in nine innings. Her performance made her the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament, finishing just behind South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Most importantly, she helped India secure their first-ever Women’s World Cup title, improving on their previous best finish of runner-up.

Palash Muchhal’s Heartfelt Proposal at DY Patil Stadium

In a moment straight out of a movie, Smriti was taken completely by surprise when her fiancé, singer-composer Palash Muchhal, planned a beautiful proposal at the DY Patil Stadium. It was the same ground where India lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup trophy, making the moment even more meaningful.

A video shared by Palash on Instagram showed him guiding Smriti to the center of the pitch while her eyes were covered. When she removed the blindfold, she found herself standing in the middle of the stadium with Palash waiting on one knee. He proposed with a ring, leaving her emotional and overjoyed. Smriti said yes, and the couple exchanged rings as Palash captioned the video, “She said yes.”

As soon as the proposal happened, their friends rushed toward the pitch to celebrate with them. Palash’s sister, the well-known singer Palak Muchhal, also joined in for the joyful moment.

Both Smriti and Palash later announced that they will be getting married on November 23, a piece of news that even drew congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Smriti Mandhana’s Incredible Journey in Cricket

Smriti began her international career back in 2013 at just 17 years old. Since then, she has become one of the biggest names in women’s cricket, earning respect for her consistency and skill.

She currently stands as the fifth-highest run-scorer in women’s ODIs and the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is. She also has the second-most centuries in women’s cricket and is just two tons away from breaking Meg Lanning’s record.

In addition to her international success, Smriti also made history in franchise cricket. She became the first captain to lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team to a title, winning the WPL in 2024. She remains the costliest player in the league’s history.
