South Africa Announces White-Ball Squads for India Series: On Friday, November 21, Cricket South Africa (CSA) revealed the white-ball squads for the South Africa National Cricket Team ahead of their upcoming ODI and T20I series against India.
The teams are currently locked in a two-match Test series, and once that wraps up, they will move straight into limited-overs action against the Men in Blue.
Anrich Nortje Returns as Proteas Reveal Full-Strength Squads
South Africa started the tour strongly by winning the opening Test in Kolkata. They will now aim to carry that momentum into the second Test in Guwahati on November 22.
Right after the Test series, the focus shifts to the ODIs. The three-match series will take place in Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam on November 30, December 3, and December 6.
The tour will end with an exciting five-match T20I series scheduled for December 9, 11, 14, 17, and 19 at five different venues.
CSA has named strong squads for both formats. Temba Bavuma will lead the ODI side, while Aiden Markram returns to captain the T20I team.
One of the biggest highlights is the comeback of pacer Anrich Nortje, who returns to the T20I squad after a long break. David Miller is also back in the mix.
In the ODI setup, Rubin Hermann keeps his place, while Lhuan-dre Pretorius misses out due to the number of top-order options available.
Coach Shukri Conrad Shares Excitement for the Tour
CSA also released a statement from South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad, who spoke about the importance of the upcoming matches, especially with major tournaments around the corner. He said:
“We’re really looking forward to this white-ball tour for so many reasons. The T20I series in particular is an important opportunity for us to finalise our squad ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup, which will also be played in India. Getting clarity on combinations and roles now is crucial as we build towards that tournament.
“Of course we’ll miss KG [Kagiso Rabada] on this tour, but as we saw in the first Test win over India, this group has depth and that is one of our primary goals as a squad; to develop a unit filled with players who can step up at any time. Every time someone is unavailable, it opens the door for another player to stand up. We want to see more players stand up as we have been seeing so often over the past couple of years.
“It’s also really good to welcome Anrich back into the T20I side after he missed the previous tours through injury. We know exactly what he brings so we’re really looking forward to working with him.
“In the 50-over format, these matches will give us a clear picture of where we are as a group and what we need to keep building on as we shape the squad ahead of the 2027 World Cup.”
