ICC Test Rankings: Just days after winning the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 in style, the South Africa national cricket team had more to cheer about, as several of their players made big leaps in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings released on Wednesday (June 18).

South Africa Celebrates More Success After WTC Triumph

Several players from South Africa’s historic WTC win at Lord’s have seen big improvements in their rankings, thanks to their great performances in the final against Australia. The Proteas defeated Australia by five wickets in the WTC Final 2025 to win their first ICC trophy in 27 years.

Aiden Markram, who played a key role by scoring a match-winning 136 runs from 207 balls during the successful chase, has moved up seven spots in the latest rankings.

Aiden Markram Shines with Bat and Ball, Climbs ICC Test Rankings

Aiden Markram has climbed to 7th place in the ICC Test Batting Rankings with 723 points, just two behind New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. His all-around efforts in the WTC Final 2025, including a crucial 136 and two wickets, also saw him jump 44 spots in the all-rounder rankings to 65th place.

David Bedingham, who helped finish the chase, rose 17 places to 40th in the batting rankings, tying with Australia’s Cameron Green. Lungi Ngidi moved up seven spots to 37th in the bowling rankings after taking three wickets in the second innings.

Kagiso Rabada remains No. 2 among Test bowlers after his 9-wicket haul in the final. Keshav Maharaj slipped to 19th in bowling but improved slightly in the all-rounder rankings to 18th.

Australia’s Mitchell Starc entered the top 10 in both bowling and all-rounder rankings after taking five wickets and scoring a half-century. Beau Webster jumped 13 places in the batting rankings, while Pakistan’s Noman Ali moved up to 4th in the bowling list.
