2025 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, Heerenveen: Athletes to watch
Erin Jackson
USA’s Olympic champion is the favourite to win the 500m in the chase for World Cup glory. Jackson recorded her second and third victories of the season last weekend in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. The Beijing 2022 gold medalist is in sensational form to register yet another victory.
Andżelika Wójcik
Poland’s Andżelika Wójcik is just 10 points behind Jackson and will pose a challenge to the American. While he is yet to earn a win this campaign, she has delivered a consistent five top 3 finishes.
Takagi Miho
Speed skating legend Takagi Miho has already claimed her seventh overall World Cup title by taking victory in the 1000m last weekend in Poland. The seven-time Olympic medallist will also seal her fourth consecutive 1500m overall triumph. The only scenario this wouldn’t happen is if she fails to register any points in the race in Hereenveen and Joy Beune wins, in which case they would finish the season even on 282 points.
Jordan Stolz
Jordan Stolz has already won the overall World Cup title in the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m in men’s competition.
The 2024 World Allround champion claimed 17 individual race wins this season (including taking 1st place in every contest in the 1000m and 1500m). He is the top contender for the World Cup crown.
