Omasa Ryo of Japan won the bronze medal against America’s Zach Hammer in a time of 5.49s. Hammer recovered from a stumble before falling halfway up the wall to give Omasa an easier route to victory.

World record holder Sam Watson of the United States failed to make it into the knockout rounds following a false start in qualification.

In the women’s competition, reigning world champion Dewi sprinted to a maiden World Cup title. She achieved a personal best of 6.27s in Kraków Sport Climbing World Cup.

Emma Hunt of the United States bagged the silver medal ahead of Olympic speed climbing champion and world record holder Aleksandra Miroslaw. Miroslaw prevailed over Polish compatriot Natalia Kalucka in a tightly contested race.
